ITALY TRAVEL GUIDE
Italy is in south central Europe that’s shaped like a boot! A rhyme that we all learned growing up was:
Long legged Italy,
Kicked poor Sicily,
Right into the Middle,
Of the Mediterranean Sea,
Austria was Hungary,
Took a bit of Turkey,
Dipped it in Greece,
Fried it in Japan,
And ate it off in China.
The ‘boot’ of Italy juts deep into the Mediterranean Sea. Italy has some of the most varied landscapes in all or Europe. At the board top section is the stunning Alps, which are among the world’s most rugged mountains.
As you head south the country narrows into it’s long leg shape with Tuscany being perhaps the countries most well known region. It widens near Rome into the Lazio region through to Campania which features one of the most popular tourist destinations of Italy - the Amalfi Coast.
At the bottom of the country to the south west lie the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.
